KARACHI, June 26: The National Bank of Pakistan has expanded its network in Afghanistan by opening a branch in the Herat province.

The NBP has been the first ever foreign commercial bank that launched its operation in Afghanistan by opening its first branch in Kabul in October 2003 followed by its next branch in Jalalabad in May 2004.

The branch was inaugurated by Herat Governor Syed Hussain Anwari along with Muhammad Hanif Khan, senior vice-president and coordinator of NBP Afghan Operations in the presence of parliamentarians, city elites, businessmen and international community members at a ceremony on Wednesday.—PPI
