KARACHI, June 25: Colony Women’s Football Club easily won their Inter-club women’s football championship’s Karachi zone match with Sindh Soccerites 3-1 at the Colony Sports Stadium on Wednesday morning.

The rescheduled game, which saw Sindh Soccerites taking the field with only nine players due to the unavailability of some girls who are busy with their exams, against a strong 11-member Colony WFC side saw an abundance of goals in the eventful second half after a barren first one.

The stalemate was broken in the first minute of the second half by Colony striker Reema followed by their second in the 47th minute by Samreen, also playing in the forward’s position.

Colony’s third goal was scored by defender Sabah Khalid in the 59th minute after which Soccerites too scored their lone goal in the 62nd minute through striker Nazia who had been playing in the midfield defender’s position in the first half.

The second half also witnessed a couple of fouls by Colony’s Uroosa (39th minute) and Soccerites’ Misbah (63rd minute), both getting yellow cards from referee Javed Bangash for the same.

Despite the loss, the Sindh Soccerites do have something to cheer about as the disqualification of Karachi Dolphins will give them a walkover in the match scheduled for Thursday morning.

Thursday’s fixtures: Colony WFC vs Diya WFC at the Colony Sports Stadium at 5.30pm.
