LAHORE, June 24: Former Test cricketer Salim Altaf has filed a writ petition in the Lahore High Court on Tuesday against his sacking as director special projects by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on June 12.

The writ was filed by barrister Aftab Gul, who is also a former Test cricketer.

Justice Ali Akbar will hear the plea on Wednesday.

Salim had been sacked allegedly for leaking sensitive information to the media.

In his petition, Salim pleaded that he was appointed by President Pervez Musharraf, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of the PCB, and only the competent authority could terminate his services.

He further argued that he was given the charge till 2011 World Cup and therefore the condition of 30-day notice for termination of service did not apply on him.

Salim added that the taping of his phone by the PCB was illegal.
