KARACHI, June 24: Wapda representing Pakistan in the 4th AFC President’s Cup Qualifier in Malaysia drew 1-1 with Nepal’s Mahendra Police Club (MPC) at the MBPJ Stadium in Petaling Gaya, Selangor, on Tuesday.

According to information released here by the FIFA Football House in Lahore, MPC, which had already recorded a 4-0 win against Bangladesh’s Abahani Ltd on Sunday, were in an aggressive mood from the word go. Still, they were unable to score with many missed chances, thanks to brilliant saves by Wapda’s goalkeeper.

Wapda drew first blood in the 79th minute of the match after a barren first half when Zulfiqar Ali Shah successfully drove the ball past MPC’s goalie.

But Wapda remained unlucky as MPC managed to pull the equaliser in the match’s final minute.

In their first encounter on Sunday, Wapda lost 1-2 to tournament favourites Regar-TadAZ of Tajikistan.

Thursday fixtures:

Wapda v Abahani Ltd of Bangladesh at 4.00pm.

Nepal’s Mahendra Police Club v Tajikistan’s Regar-TadAZ at 6.30pm.
