Hamza named PSB director general

ISLAMABAD, June 24: Syed Amir Hamza Gilani has been appointed as the 12th director general of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) on Tuesday for the next two years.

The outgoing PSB DG Lt. Col. Salahuddin had completed his two-year tenure on May 31, 2008, and the post was lying vacant.

However, the joint secretary, Ministry of Sports, Mohammad Anwar Khan was performing the duties of acting PSB DG.

Talking to Dawn, Anwar pointed out that the notification had been issued by the ministry.

Hamza was previously working as the deputy director at the PSB Coaching Lahore.

A former national athlete, Hamza has represented Pakistan in the discipline of shot put in international competitions.

The new DG also holds a past national record in this discipline.
