NAROWAL, June 24: Two girls drowned in Dhelli Canal, some 15 kilometer from here, on Tuesday.

Reportedly, family of a local jeweler, Muhammad Zafar, was picnicking on the bank of the canal when his daughters Iqra (8) and Nida (13) started bathing and went into deep water.

The locals and some passersby tried to save the girls but failed.

The body of Iqra had been fished out while search for Nida’s was on.
