Lawyers resume court boycott

Published June 20, 2008

HYDERABAD, June 19: Lawyers in many districts and towns of the province boycotted courts on Thursday in response to a call for protest given by the Pakistan Bar Council and the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) to press the government for reinstatement of deposed judges.

Lawyers in Hyderabad held a general body meeting in the civil courts’ bar room and later brought out a rally.

They raised slogans of “Chief Terey Jan Nisar, Be Shumar Be Shumar”.

They called for restoration of pre-Nov 3 judiciary and stressed that the lawyers and civil society would not budge from their stand on Pervez Musharraf.
