LAHORE, June 18: The heirs to a man placed his corpse outside Governor’s House on Wednesday to protest against a quack, who administered a wrong injection that caused his death, and police which did not register a case against the accused false doctor.
Wilayat Ali, 35, of Khizarabad Sukh Nehr, suffered fever on Tuesday night and went to doctor Muhammad Rafi who administered him an injection. Within no time, Wilayat’s arm swelled due to the injection and the doctor asked him to go to any public hospital for treatment. Wilayat, father of five, was taken to Services Hospital where doctors said that his arm had swelled up because of the poisonous injection.
The victim died after sometime of the admission.
The family first took the body to the clinic and lodged protest against the doctor and then to the Baghbanpura police station for a first information report. The family said police did not heed their demand, so they had to take the body to Governor’s House. They protested there for more than one hour and terminated their protest after senior police officers assured them that action would be taken against the accused doctor and negligent police officials. The heirs handed the body over to the Bgahbanpura police for autopsy. Police registered a case against Dr Rafi on the complaint of victim’s son Mukhtar Ali with no arrest so far.
KILLED: A 60-year-old man was allegedly killed by his son-in-law over a domestic dispute in the Chuhng police area, police said.
Ramzan, of Bobhatian, allegedly killed his father-in-law Muhammad Ali when the later refused to send his daughter with him. Ramzan visited Ali and slit open his throat and fled. The injured was being taken to Jinnah Hospital but he died on the way.
Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a case against Ramzan on the complaint of deceased’s son Imdad Hussain.
ACCIDENT: An unidentified 25-year-old man was run over by a truck in the Green Town area, Edhi officials said. The victim was crossing a road when the truck ran over him. He was taken to hospital where he died.
An unidentified 17-year-old youth died under a train near Badami Bagh Railway Crossing, Railway police said. The youth was crossing the railway track when he accidentally came under the train and died instantly.
