PESHAWAR, June 17: Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti on Tuesday expressed grief and sorrow over the damages and loss of lives due to floods triggered by heavy rains in different parts of the province.

In a message issued here, the chief minister directed the local governments of the affected districts to provide every possible relief to the displaced people. He grieved over the damages to properties and standing crops in Mardan, Charsadda, Karak, Nowshera, Chitral, Oghi and Balakot.

Meanwhile, provincial minister for prisons Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel also expressed sorrow over the loss of human lives, property and crops caused by rain and floods in Karak and demanded of the provincial government to declare the district as calamity-hit.

He was talking to a delegation of district Karak, which called on him under the leadership of MPA Malik Qasim Khan at his office here on Tuesday.

The minister said that the government would assess the damages and take all possible steps to compensate the affected people.—Bureau Report
