MITHI, June 15: Some members of the Tharparkar district council have urged the highways authorities to take measures to remove heaps of sand accumulated on different roads in the district.

Talking to this correspondent, Allah Warayo, Krishan Lal and Abdul Subhan Sodho said that after strong summer winds, heaps of sand had accumulated on various metalled roads in Tharparkar district, hampering vehicular movement.

“The contractors who dug trenches along the roads to collect clay have not filled ditches that are likely to cause inconvenience to the people and their animals,” they said.

ACTION SOUGHT: A villager of Nagarparkar taluka has urged the authorities to order action against an influential man and his henchmen for kidnapping and beating him.

Talking to this correspondent, Thakro Meghwar, resident of Churio village, alleged that a few days ago Bhai Khan Khoso and his four accomplices came to his shop in Warau village in a jeep without number plate, forcibly took him to a jungle, severely beat him with clubs and punches and left him unconscious.

“I have marks of the beating on my body”, Thakro said and added that he had been threatened of dire consequences by Khoso and his henchmen.
