LAHORE, June 14: Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif will not appear before the Lahore High Court bench that is hearing a petition against his eligibility to contest the election.
He thinks that since the judges had taken oath under the PCO, it would be against the party's principled stand to appear before such judges.
Sources say Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Iqbal has approached the Lahore High Court with a petition to become a party to the petition against the chief minister.
He has engaged Advocate Akram Sheikh to argue it. The speaker thinks the petition was in fact against the assembly proceedings. — Political Correspondent
