OKARA, June 12: Doctors and paramedics on Thursday went on a strike and staged a protest rally, staging a sit-in and demanding registration of a case against PPP MNA’s brother and his accomplices for manhandling the medical officer.

Dozens of doctors, nurses and other paramedics led by Pakistan Medical Association’s local chapter president Dr Shaukat Ali and Secretary-General Dr Ishtiaq Ali started the rally from DHQ hospital.

The participants of the rally passed from Kutchery Bazaar, Gol Chowk and Hospital Bazaar and converged in front of city DSP office where they staged a sit-in to protest against police inaction.

They also chanted slogans against city A Division SHO and investigation SP for conniving with the attackers and not registering a case against them despite DPO’s orders.

PMA Okara office-bearers, including Dr Liaqat Ali Kusar, Dr Mohammad Azam Khan, and paramedical staff representative Khalid Chaudhry and Deepalpur chapter president Dr Shahid Farooq addressed the rally.

Meanwhile, a group of doctors, lead by PMA office-bearers called on district and session judge and informed him about the ugly incident.

They also contacted Sheikhupura range DIG for registration of case.

The doctors from private clinics also observed strike across the city.

The doctors appealed to Chief Ministers Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of police partiality.

KILLED: A man killed his wife at 33/2RA village on Wednesday over some domestic issue.

Reports said Manzoor Ahmed would often quarrel with his wife Perveen Bibi. On Wednesday they again had a noisy argument, and an infuriated Manzoor clubbed his wife to death.
