QUETTA, June 11: Armed people kidnapped three Wapda officials who were on a campaign to recover electricity dues in the Segai area of Gulistan on Wednesday.

Sources in the Quetta Electricity Supply Company (Qesco) confirmed the kidnapping and said the officials, including a sub-divisional officer, had gone to Gulistan to seek payment of dues owed by some influential people of the area.

They said the Wapda team had cut off power connections of around 40 tubewells in Killi Segai because of non-payment of bills and notices had been sent to the defaulters. Two of the kidnapped officials were identified as SDO Din Gul and Lineman Qasim.

After receiving information about the kidnapping, police and other law-enforcement personnel rushed to the area and raided various places.
