KARACHI, May 2: Three ships carrying containers and general cargo are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berth occupancy at the wharves was maintained on the higher side thanks to steady berthing and sailing of the foreign flag vessels. While it was 100 per cent at the oil piers, on the dry berths it rose to 52 per cent.

Six ships, Al-Ihsaa, MSC Maeva, Leixoes and Wan Hai-232 to unload and load containers, Challenge Express to offload high speed diesel and Sun Diamond to unload chemicals were berthed after the sailing of two.

The ships, which departed included Al-Ihsaa and Thor Master, while Sun Diamond, Atlantic Sol, Leixeos, Wan Hai-232, Challenge Express and PONL Pemba are due to sail out on Friday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active despite a May day holiday as the total tonnage rose to 60,692 tons comprising 10,750 tons of export cargo and 49,942 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Friday: Global Prosperity, Abu Dubai, with containers and Concept, with general cargo.
