KARACHI, June 11: Ms Nasreen Haq, who became the first woman civil servant to lead Karachi Port Trust, shared her views and vision with KPT management and workers on Wednesday after assuming the office and said she believes in team work for achieving milestones.

She said her previous experience and achievements in road, rail and sea transportation sector would enable the port to make effective use of these linkages, ultimately benefiting the port and reducing cargo congestions.

She maintained that her vision would be to convert the port into the region's trans-shipment hub and to create a win-win situation for the port and its users.

Nasrin Haq said her focus would also be on the fishing community and the KPT would look into their problems and try to resolve them.

The KPT chairman vowed to further reduce the turnaround time of vessels calling at the Karachi Port.

The inter-modal connectivity of the port with hinterland would be the top priority, she pointed out and said the trade corridor for Afghan transit trade would greatly benefit from Karachi Port connectivity as envisioned.—APP
