QUETTA, June 9: Thousands of activists of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) accorded a rousing welcome to party chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal at the Sariab custom check post, a city’s suburb, and brought him in a long motorcade procession to a public meeting avenue at the Nawab Nauroz Khan Stadium.

This is Sardar Mengal’s first visit to Quetta since his release from prison in Karachi last month.

The procession started at 2pm took eight hours to cover a distance of about 15 kilometres.

Holding party flags and banners, workers raised slogans for the rights of Balochistan.

According to party’s announcement, the public meeting was scheduled to start at 5pm but the public meeting could not be started till late night.
