KASUR, June 8: A two-year-old child was killed and six members of his family received burns after a gas cylinder exploded in the kitchen of their house in Wah Khara locality in Changa Manga police precincts on Sunday.

Kaneez Bibi was cooking meal when the cylinder exploded apparently owing to leakage as a result of which household items caught fire. Kaneez Bibi and her two-year-old son Saim got trapped in the fire.

Nazeeran Bibi, Fatima Bibi, Sharifan Bibi, Muhammad Amin and Muhammad Usman also received burns in an attempt to extinguish the fire and rescue Kaneez and Saim.

They all were taken to a nearby hospital from where they were referred to Jinnah Hospital in Lahore. Saim succumbed to his burns on his way to Lahore while the remaining ones were being treated there.
