KARACHI, June 3: The civil judge and judicial magistrate, south, Rabab Fatima, on Tuesday remanded three activists of Sunni Tehreek in police custody till June 4.

Naseem alias Javed, Faizan alias Javed, and Ali are facing trial for killing 16-year-old Abdullah on Nov 7, 2007 in the limits of Kharadar police station.

A case was registered against the accused under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the deceased’s father, Anwar Baig, at Kharadar police station. Jamil, Khalid and others are absconders in the case.

Man sent to jail

The additional district and sessions judge, east, Naseem Mansoor, on Tuesday awarded two-year imprisonment to a man after he was found guilty in a fraud case.

The verdict said that the persecution had successfully proved its case against the accused, Mohammad Ikram. The prosecution said that the accused made false documents of plots, posed himself as an army major and took possession of the land in Korangi area in February 2002.

A case (FIR No 17/2007) was registered under Sections 420, 419 and 468 of the PPC on a complaint of the owner of the plots.

Kidnap, murder case

The administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts, Karachi, Dr Rana Mohammad Shamim, remanded two suspects in police custody till June 9 in a case pertaining to the kidnap and murder of a jeweller.

Nawaz and Iftikhar were arrested by the Citizen-Police Liaison Committee and the Anti-Violent Crime Unit in Bhittai Colony, Korangi Crossing, on May 30.

According to the prosecution, Shaikh Mohammad Aslam, owner of a jewellery shop on Tariq Road, was kidnapped on April 25 from Khadda Market.
