LHC seeks Nepra reply

Published May 31, 2008

LAHORE, May 30: Justice Syed Hamid Ali Shah of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to file reply on Friday next (June 6) regarding the surcharge of Neelum Jehlum Hydro Power Project Development Fund (NJHPDF) imposed on electricity bills.

More than 30 industrial units have filed identical petitions and alleged that Wapda illegally included surcharge of NJHPDF in their electricity bills, which they would be bound to pay till 2015. They asked the court to declare the surcharge illegal. On Friday, the Nepra counsel requested the court to give more time to file reply, which the court did. – APP
