ISLAMABAD, May 28: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday adjourned hearing of a writ petition against the alleged detention of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan and the bail plea of Maulana Abdul Aziz, former cleric of Lal Masjid.

Both cases were adjourned till date in office due to the ailing condition of Chief Justice Sardar Mohammad Aslam.

On Tuesday, the same bench had directed the deputy attorney general to present relevant record about the alleged detention of nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan. A habeas corpus writ petition was filed by advocate M. Javed Iqbal Jafferi. The petitioner contended in his petition that Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan had been under detention for the last seven years and was not allowed to meet his relatives.

The second case was related to the bail of Maulana Abdul Aziz, former Khateeb of Lal Masjid.

During the last hearing on May 19, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Mohammad Aslam and Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan issued notice to the federation with direction to submit replies over the issue.—APP
