ATTOCK, May 28: Former chief minister Punjab and PML-Q’s leader Ch Pervaiz Elahi on Wednesday said that the decision to shelve the proposed Kalabagh dam project would be opposed in and outside the assembly, and termed it a conspiracy against the country and people as well.

He was addressing a public meeting at PML-Q’s secretariat Pindigheb during his first visit to his constituency after his election as MNA.

Besides other party leaders and activists, former provincial minister Col (Rtd) Malik Anwar, MPA Sher Ali Khan, Senator Sardar Mehmood Khan and district nazim Attock Major (Rtd) Tahir Sadik were also present on the occasion.

Mr Elahi said by shelving the project the country had been deprived of power generation of 45000mw and irrigation of thousands of acre barren lands.

He said they would not allow the present government to put the project on hold and would oppose the decision at every forum.

Criticising the performance of government, he said it could not give any plan to the nation even after four months of coming into power, and the people were facing problems in every field of life particularly price hike and unavailability of atta in the markets.—Correspondent
