TOBA TEK SINGH, May 27: Robbers looted cash and gold worth Rs3 million from the house of a jeweller in broad daylight in Kamalia on Tuesday.

Four robbers forced their entry into jeweller Sharafat Ali’s house in the Siraj Bibi locality, held his family members hostage, beat them up and fled with gold ornaments worth Rs2.3 million and cash and other valuables worth Rs700,000.

SCHOOLGIRL RAPED: A schoolgirl was allegedly raped by two men in Chak 520-GB on Tuesday.

Saleem told Saddar police that his 12-year-old daughter went to school, but did not return. He said when he went out to find his daughter he saw her coming from an orchard. He said she told him that Nawaz and Rashid kidnapped her at gunpoint and raped her in a room at the orchard.

Separately, people foiled an attempt by four men to kidnap a girl in Chak 349-GB. Ghulam Muhammad complained to Rajana police that Hafeez, Waheed and their two accomplices came to his house on a car, caught his daughter and put her into their car. In the meantime, people from the locality gathered there and rescued the girl.

TWO SHOT DEAD: Two unidentified people, a man and a woman, were shot dead by three unidentified persons near Chak 392-JB on Tuesday.

Witnesses told Saddar police that three people brought the victims to the scene in a white car, threw them out of the car and opened fire at them. As a result, both of them died at the scene. Their bodies were stored at the district hospital after their post-mortem. Both victims are about 50.
