QUETTA, May 26: A man was killed and four others were injured when some armed men opened fire on people playing cricket in the Ayub Stadium here on Monday night.

According to police sources, a floodlight cricket tournament was in progress when the armed men on a motorcycle opened fire, killing Mohammad Irfan.

The injured — Mohammad Arshad, Faisal, Adnan and Ghulam Murtaza — were taken to hospital.

Rocket defused

Security forces on Monday foiled an attempt by some people to fire a rocket at the Sui plant.

Police said the rocket had been planted near Sui but security forces rushed to the site after receiving information about it and defused it immediately.
