KARACHI, May 22: Akbar Rehman produced a superb all-round show as the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) retained Hinopak Trophy Inter-departmental Championship title, beating the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) by five wickets in the final at the UBL Sports Complex Ground on Thursday.

Akbar, who cracked three centuries in a row in the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II tournament, first claimed two wickets for 28 and later smashed an unbeaten half-century to steer the KESC to an impressive victory.

Earlier, Misbah Khan captured four wickets for 23 in 9.5 overs as SBP, batting first, posted 171 all out in 49.5 overs.

Faisal Athar top-scored with a subdued 51 off 111 balls laced with four boundaries.

The KESC, in reply, romped home for the loss of five wickets in 39.1 overs.

Akbar, who was named man-of-the-match, slammed five fours and a six in his unbeaten 50 coming off 68 deliveries.
