LONDON, May 21: Danish Kaneria is determined to help Essex continue their fine start to the season.

Kaneria missed the start of the season following the birth of his son and comes back to a side lying third in Division Two.

“In the past, at beginning of the season we’ve done well, (but then) we’ve relaxed and our game has gone down very badly.

“I want to keep the momentum throughout the season. I hope we can achieve something and get into Division One in four-day cricket,” said the Pakistan leg-spinner.

Kaneria, last year’s player of the season, is pleased to be back at the County Ground, but says he does not feel under any pressure to pick up where he left off in 2007.

“I just want to do well and just go to ground to perform. If I perform then team will win, so I don’t have any pressure in my mind. I’ll just be relaxed and enjoy cricket. If you enjoy cricket you will definitely perform,” he said.—Agencies
