GUJRANWALA, May 19: Scores of labourers threw traffic out of gear on Monday and held a demonstration against factory owners and social security hospital administration for not enhancing their emoluments and providing better medical facilities.

The protesters demanded that their salaries be enhanced according to the price hike.

The labourers gathered on GT Road at Sheranwala Bagh and later marched along various roads. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against factory owners.

They staged sit-in outside the social security hospital and an industrial unit in small industries estate and chanted slogans against its administration.

Labour leaders alleged that most of the industrialists and factory owners were not paying social security benefits as a result the hospital was not providing them better medical facilities.

They alleged that the factory owners had burnt record of labourers to avoid social security. Later they dispersed peacefully.
