Killer awarded death sentence

TOBA TEK SINGH, April 30: An additional district and sessions judge on Tuesday handed down death sentence and Rs100,000 fine in a murder case.

According to prosecution convict Nadeem alias Banka of Kamalia had killed his rival last year.

The court acquitted his co-accused Javed Iqbal by giving him the benefit of the doubt.

THEFT: Thieves took away two electricity transformers from two different places of the district on Monday night.

Police was reported that a transformer was stolen from the District Council Employees Colony while the other was taken away from Chak 336-GB Saraba.

OBITUARY: A senior District Bar Association member Mian Shaukat Ali died on Tuesday after protracted illness. He was laid to rest in his native graveyard where scores of lawyers and citizens attended his funeral prayer.

Qul will be held on Wednesday at his residence.

Meanwhile, lawyers did not appear before courts as a mark of respect for Mr Shaukat Ali.
