Munir clinches trophy

RAWALPINDI, Oct 23: Lt. Col. Munir Ahmed Malik won the President of Pakistan Golf Cup with a three round net score of 213 at Rawalpindi Golf Club course Tuesday.

President General Pervez Musharraf was the chief guest and distributed prizes on the conclusion of the three-day championship competed by amateur golfers from around the country.

Sameer Iftikhar from Gymkhana Club was runners up to Lt. Col. Munir with a net score of 217 while Brig. Badar-ul-Islam Lodhi was third with a net score of 218.

In the gross scores of the main competitions, Waqas Ahmed of Rawalpindi won the Attock Bowl with a three-round card of 223. Kamal Ibrahim of Peshawar (235) and Farid Butter of Rawalpindi (238) were second and third respectively.

The following were the prize winners of other events.

Ladies Gross: Mehvish Javed (166), Tahira Mirza (167).

Ladies Net: Heidi Schirnner (143), Mrs. Asma Afzal (152).

Juniors Gross: Ali Khanzada (189), Wamiq Shakil (193).

Juniors Net: Haider Ateeq (127), Osama (142).

Invitees Net: Lt. Gen. Abdul Qayyum, Maj. Gen. Tariq Hameed, Lt. Gen. Tauqeer Zia.

Invitees Gross” Maj. Gen. Malik Iftikhar Khan, Maj. Gen. Asif Duraiz Akhter, Gen. Muhammad Yusaf Khan.

Seniors Gross: Lt. Col. (R) Muhammad Safi (77), AVM (R) Abbas Mirza (78), Tariq Afridi (84).

Seniors Net: Brig. (R) Muhammad Akhter (70), Brig. Maqsoodul Hassan (70), Mian Khalid Aziz (70).
