Five killed on road

VEHARI, May 18: Five persons including two children were killed in a road accident near Chak 28/10-R bus stop on Vehari-Khanewal Road, some 30 kilometres away from here, on Sunday.

The Vehari-bound van from Khanewal collided with a truck coming from opposite direction as result of which five people, van driver Mohammad Husain, Asif, Rab Nawaz, one-year-old Javed and a five-year-old girl, died on the spot while six others were injured who were taken to Kacha Khoo health centre.

The Kacha Khoo police registered a case against the truck driver, who fled.

According to eyewitnesses, the mishap occurred due to speeding.
