SHEIKHUPURA, May 17: Three robbers were killed in a shootout with police near Tanni Chak in Manawala police precincts in Nankana district on Saturday. However, two of their accomplices fled.

Five robbers barged into the house of Sultan in Tanni Chak, took the family members on gunpoint and started collecting valuables.

A family member who was outside the house informed the patrolling police on which Manawala and Nankana police personnel rushed to the scene.

The police told the outlaws to surrender but they opened fire. The robbers also threatened to kill the family members taken hostage. However, when the robbers had exhausted their ammunition, they came out and tried to flee on which the police shot at them, killing three of them on the spot while their two accomplices fled.

The killed robbers were later identified as Ghafar, alias Lali, of Feroze Watwan, Amanat, of Kot Abdul Malik, and Zulfiqar, of Sheikhupura’s Shabistan Colony.

Nankana District Police Officer Nasir Akbar said that fleeing robbers would also be arrested soon. The police started investigations.
