Accused attempts suicide

ATTOCK, May 15: An accused of a robbery allegedly attempted a suicide by setting himself on fire at a police lockup here on Wednesday morning.

Police said Muhammad Naveed alias Jari, along with three other accused, was arrested by the city police in a robbery incident few days back and was being interrogated under physical remand.

On Wednesday morning, he set himself on fire and was caught up in the flames. The police managed to rescue him. However, he received minor burn injuries and was shifted to the district headquarters hospital.

After treatment, he was again sent back to the city police station. —Correspondent
