LAHORE, May 13: The 1st National youth under-15 baseball inter-district day and night championship will be held here at the Cycling Velodrome Ground from Wednesday to Sunday.

It was announced by President Pakistan Federation of Baseball (PFB) Shaukat Javed at the curtain raiser press conference here on Tuesday that there will be 12 districts featuring in the event. These include eight districts of Punjab, namely, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Okara, Faisalabad, Vehari and Multan and four — Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and the Federal Areas — representing the rest of the country.

The draws were held on late Tuesday night.

The teams are divided into two pools and the top two in each pool would qualify for the semis.

Shaukat, who said the championship would help the federation spot fresh talent at the grassroots level, informed the federation had some five years back also organised an U-11 championship and four players from that tournament have made a place for themselves in the senior team.
