Three of a family shot dead by rivals

GUJRANWALA, Oct 23: Three members of a family were gunned down while two others were injured by their rivals in Qila Dedar Singh on Tuesday.

According to reports reaching here, Muhammad Siddiq Saikho, his son Manzoor, Muhammad Nawaz son of Khurshid Ahmad, Asghar son of Nazir and Mazhar were going to Gujranwala sessions court on a four-wheeler.

Rana Amjad and his half dozen accomplices intercepted them near Qila Dedar Singh Town and opened fire with automatic weapons. As a result, Siddiq, Manzoor and Nawaz died on the spot while Asghar and Mazhar were injured. They were taken to civil hospital where their condition was stated to be critical. The bodies were removed to city morgue for autopsy.

It is stated that Ghulam Mustafa, the elder son of Siddiq, married a sister of Rana Amjad 20 years ago against the wishes of the family. The woman was killed by her father Rana Shafiq, brother Rana Amjad and their accomplices soon after the marriage. They also killed Ghulam Mustafa one year ago.

Police registered the case.
