LAHORE, May 11: A majority of storekeepers, cashiers and caretakers in the Civil Secretariat is sticking to their seats they occupied nearly two decades ago.
Their presence is being considered a clear violation of the instructions of chief secretary Javed Mehmood who reportedly wants to fix a three-year tenure for every seat.
The storekeepers, cashiers and caretakers purchase and look after goods, including stationery. And their overstay is creating doubts about their conduct among the secretariat staff mainly because they handle cash and kind.
According to sources in the civil secretariat on Sunday, local government department's cashier and storekeeper Yasin has been posted there for the past 20 years. Similar is the case with S&GAD's welfare I storekeeper Rafiq Tahir.
Following are the other employees and their reported tenure: S&GAD's cabinet wing caretaker Muhammad Nawaz, S&GAD's cashier Muhammad Hanif, finance department's caretaker Muhammad Sultan, home department's storekeeper Muhammad Rafiq, S&GAD's welfare wing telephone assistant Muhammad Aizaz, health department's cashier, storekeeper and caretaker Muhammad Rauf, transport pool's cashier Abdul Majid (20 years), finance department's storekeeper (25 years) and S&GAD's cashier Muhammad Anees (15 years).
