QUETTA, May 10: The chief of the Pukhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and the convener of the APDM, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, said on Saturday that May 12 would be observed as black day in protest against the killing of dozens of people in Karachi on the day last year.

Addressing a news conference, Mr Achakzai asked the government to investigate the Karachis incident of May 12 and punish the responsible elements. The government should probe the incidents and bring the facts before the public, he added.

Mr Achakzai summoned a meeting of the heads of the component parties of All Parties Democratic Movement in Islamabad on May 14 to discuss the future strategy if the deposed judges were not reinstated till May 12.

He said the APDM would stand with the forces who believed in democratic rule, restoration of the Constitution as it was on October 12, 1999 and reinstatement of the deposed judges.

He called for bringing an end to political roles of army and intelligence agencies, recognising the rights of deprived nations, curbing lawlessness and controlling the price hike.

Mr Achakzai said the reinstatement of judges was a serious issue and should be resolved according to people’s aspirations. If political parties, including PPP, failed to honour the commitment made to the nation they would face wrath of the people, he warned.
