ISLAMABAD, May 10: Information Minister Sherry Rahman has opposed Nawaz Sharif’s proposal that police should be used for judges’ reinstatement.

In a statement sent to Dawn on Saturday Ms Rahman said: “If police restore the judges, as PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif suggests, there will be a political and constitutional crisis.”

She said: “The other judges (existing) will immediately rule against the old ones.”

She went on to say that in order to achieve the objective of reinstatement of deposed judges by safe means “we can, by an act of parliament, accommodate all the judges.”

Ms Rahman said: “We will try our best to keep the coalition intact, adding that the N-league has been our political allies for long time and we hope they will stand that way”.
