SHIKARPUR: SPO, SHO suspended

SHIKARPUR, May 10: Highwaymen looted passengers of a coach and car near Soomar Mahar village on Shikarpur-Sukkur Road in the jurisdiction of Lakhi Ghulam Shah police station on Friday night after which the DPO Shikarpur suspended an SPO and an SHO for negligence in duties.

According to reports, armed men stopped the Karachi-bound Al-Madina Coach after aerial firing. They deprived the passengers of cash, mobile sets and other valuables.

Later, passengers staged demonstration and blocked the Shikarpur-Sukkur Road near Dodo village in protest against the incident, suspending for two hours traffic to Balochistan, Punjab and Karachi. The road was reopened on police assurance to arrest the culprits soon.

In another incident, some armed men looted occupants of a car coming from Dargah Budhal Faqeer near Andal Mahar village Laaro, on Shikarpur-Sukkur Road.

After the two incidents, DPO Shikarpur, Agha Tahir suspended the SPO Lakhi, Ghulam Qadir Buriro and the SHO Ali Bux Dhakan for negligence in duties and failure to control crimes.
