ISLAMABAD, May 7: The ministry of law and justice has moved a summary to foreign ministry seeking a probe by the the United Nations into assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi told media on Wednesday.

The summary, prepared in the context of a resolution on the issue passed by the National Assembly, was under study of the foreign ministry and it would soon be referred to the prime minister for seeking international community’s support, Mr Qureshi said.

“The prime minister would formally request the UN for investigation,” the minister added.

He said the government was making serious efforts for the release of the abducted ambassador, Tariq Azizuddin. However, he said, he could not fix any accurate date for his release. “The nation and the family of Tariq Azizuddin will hear good news soon”, he added.

“We cannot reveal details of talks or his whereabouts due to sensitivity of the matter,” Mr Qureshi said.—APP
