NAWABSHAH: Wheat smuggling

NAWABSHAH, May 4: The chairman of the food department’s vigilance committee, Shah Nawaz Khan Magsi, has said that influential people are involved in the smuggling and black marketing of wheat and flour.

Talking to journalists at press club on Saturday, he said that Sindh had a record production of wheat which was sufficient for two years but some unscrupulous elements, were engaged in black marketing and smuggling. He warned of strict action against them.

He further said that black marketeers in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and Badin purchased wheat before it could reach market and approximately 3 to 3.5 million maunds of wheat was hidden in the area.

He said that teams had recovered a good quantity of wheat and action has also been taken against the officials for lethargy and negligence.

He urged the citizens to help the vigilance committee for the recovery of hidden wheat stocks.
