LAHORE, May 3: Mercury further went up in the city and elsewhere in the province on Saturday leaving people to brave the intense weather with repeated outages.

However, the local Met office expected some relief for the people in the form of isolated duststorm and light rain, which it expected to lash central Punjab cities on Sunday night (tonight).

The maximum temperature in Lahore increased from Friday's 43 degrees C to 44 degrees C. The minimum temperature was 22 degrees C with only 23 per cent humidity in the morning, and seven per cent in the evening.

The Met office said the maximum temperature in Dera Ghazi Khan was 47.4 degrees C, making it the hottest city in the country.

It said a trough of westerly system was moving across Eastern Afghanistan and adjoining NWFP, and cities like Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and Faisalabad might have isolated duststorm and rain on Sunday night under its impact.
