Robbers injure two brothers

LAHORE, May 3: Robbers shot at and injured four people, including two brothers, in two incidents in the provincial metropolis on Saturday.

Two armed men barged in the ice-cream agency of two brothers Shabbir and Zulfikar near Shahdara Mor, looted Rs70,000 in cash and escaped on their motorcycle.

The brothers started chasing the outlaws on their bike. As they reached close to the robbers after crossing Toll Plaza, the robbers opened fire on them.

Shabbir received three bullets and Zulfikar two and were taken to Mayo Hospital in critical condition.

The Shahdara supervisory police officer said the robbers and the two brothers crossed the police picket set up at Toll Plaza, but the latter did not inform the police. He claimed one of the brothers could not timely use the gun which provided an opportunity to the criminals to open fire.

Two armed men, riding a motorcycle, stopped Dunya Khan and Noorul Rahman on Bund Road, opened fire on both of them, looted Rs700,000 in cash and escaped.

The victims were on their way after withdrawing cash from a bank near the MAO College.

The injured were admitted to Mayo Hospital in critical condition.

DIES: A 42-year-old man died in a hospital on Saturday three weeks after his rivals injured him at Yohannabad.

Nishtar Colony police said Mangta Masih and his neighbour, Makha Masih, had a rivalry over some issue. They had a scuffle three weeks ago as a result Makha and his two accomplices opened fire on Mangta and escaped.

The victim was shifted to the General Hospital where he expired on Saturday.

ACCIDENT: A 50-year-old man was hit and killed by a tractor-trolley near Sundar Adda in the Manga Mandi area on Saturday.

Ayyub of Kalar Kahar, Chakwal, died on the spot. A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed when a bus hit him at Tajpura in the Harbanspura area. Ahmad Husain of Hair village died while being taken to hospital. The locals caught the bus driver and handed him over to the police.
