HYDERABAD, May 3: Over one dozen haris (peasants) of Badin district staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Saturday and demanded of the government to ensure their outstanding dues against a landlord of Golarchi in Badin district.

The protesters, included Ramchand Kohli, Dhano Kohli, Maghan Kohli, Chando, Resham, Hariyan, Bhroo and others told journalists that they had fled from the lands of landlord Haji Lutuf Malik and they were hiding at a place for fear of him.

They alleged that the landlord used to subject them to excesses through his henchmen.

They said that whenever they demanded their share of profit from the landlord they were abused and after locking them in a room they were tortured.

They said that they had been working at the land of zamindar for last three years.

They said that despite their repeated requests the landlord didn’t settle their accounts and confined them illegally.

At last, they said, they managed to flee from his confinement. They appealed to PPO Sindh, DPOs of Hyderabad and Badin to take action against the landlord and ensure payment of their profit share outstanding against him.
