Ajmal Niazi gets notice

LAHORE, April 26: The Punjab governor has served a show-cause notice on Dr Ajmal Niazi, an associate professor of Urdu at Government FC College, on charges of misconduct.

The governor has appointed the Excise and Taxation Department secretary, Sami Saeed, as enquiry officer.

The order says, “The Punjab governor as competent authority under Section 3 of the Punjab Removal from Service (Special Powers) Ordinance, 2000, read with notification dated 5-11-2001 is of the opinion that there are sufficient grounds to proceed against Dr Niazi, associate professor of Urdu, Government FC College, Lahore, and columnist on charges of misconduct in term of Section 3 (1) (B) read with Section 2 (B) of the ordinance.”—Reporter
