LAHORE, April 28: Justice Ahsan Bhoon of the Lahore High Court on Monday ordered a man to produce his wife’s passport and other relevant documents on Tuesday (today) in a habeas corpus petition.
US national Nusrat Pirzada had moved the court for recovery of her sister, Dr Shazia, and her two children from the custody of her husband Amir Farhan. She said her sister was illegally detained by Amir’s family.
The court had deputed a bailiff to recover Dr Shazia and her children and ordered the SP concerned to register a case after recording the statement of the detenue.
A bailiff, Muhammad Anwar, had produced Shazia and her nine-month-old daughter Aliza after recovering them from the custody of Amir Farhan.
The bailiff also produced Yousaf Nadeem, father of Amir, who was apprehended while trying to escape with Aliza.
On Monday, Dr Shazia told the court that she had been given the custody of her son.
Shazia married Amir Farhan on April 27, 2000 as per Islamic law and she gave birth to Zaeem and Aliza in the US and Canada, respectively.
In February 2008, Amir brought them from Canada to Pakistan and confined them in the house of his father, said the petitioner.
Amir's father, his mother and three sisters are behind bars after registration of the case.
