SIALKOT, April 28: A widow has been denied a gas connection for the last 13 years in Islampura locality of Daska as she did not pay bribe to the respective officials of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).
Talking to newsmen in Daska city on Monday, Zahida Bibi said she had filed an application (No 34298) with the Sialkot office of the company on July 26, 1995, but no connection had been provided to her.
The woman said she had time and again contacted the respective SNGPL officials, but they allegedly demanded money for providing connection to her on a ‘priority basis’.
Zahida said she would now move the Lahore High Court against the gas company.
She alleged the SNGPL used to entertain the influential people and applications of the poor had been pending for years. She urged the higher officials of the SNGPL to look into the matter.
When contacted, the Sialkot-based gas officials declined to comment.
