PESHAWAR, April 28: Transporters on Monday said that they would raise fares in case the price of petroleum products was increased anymore.
A meeting of the transporters and officials of the Provincial Transport Authority was held here to discuss the issues of fare, bus stands and other problems being faced by the transporters.
Sarhad Public Transport Legal Action Committee president Haji Ihsanullah told Dawn that the PTA and transporters had already agreed on a formula about increasing fares in case of raise in price of the petroleum products.
The transporters, he said, were already facing financial problems because of the price hike of various items including spare parts, tyres. If the oil prices were soared they would be forced to increase the fares, he added.
The PTA officials, he said, would take up the issue with the provincial government so that the increase in fares could formally be approved from the cabinet.
