MIRPURKHAS, April 28: More than 270 members of a scheduled caste community embraced Islam at the hands of Pir Mohammad Ayub Jan Sarhandi in Gulzar Khalil village near Bachao Ban, district Umerkot on Sunday. Converts are said to be members of 40 families of untouchable Hindus.

Report said they belong to Bheel community and include 120 men, 80 women and 70 children of Gul Mohammad Laghari village of Tando Mohammad Khan.

Khamiso, Bachal Pandi and others told reporters that they were working as labourer on the land of Gul Mohammad Sarewal last for many years and were impressed by Islam. They asked their landlord who arranged a meeting with Pir Sarhandi and today they embraced Islam without any fear or pressure. They said that they were now Muslims with no link with Hindu religion.

Pir Sarhandi announced to give houses free of cost to new Muslims in district Tando Mohammad Khan.

INJURED: A young man was seriously injured by the firing of another youth in Arain Para Digri town on Sunday. Report said after exchange of hot words, Tariq Arain shot at and injured Ali Mohammad Lund. He was rushed to Taluka Hospital Digri. Ibrahim Lund, uncle of the victim lodged a case with Digri police against accused Tariq Arain.

ACCIDENT: Four passengers including a coaster driver were injured when the driver of another vehicle lost control and hit a parked coach at Vew bus terminal on Sunday.

A coach was parked at the terminal, when a passenger coaster coming from the rear collided with it. Four people Ibrar Ahmed, Raisingh, Ghulam Nabi and driver Sultan Pathan were seriously injured and rushed to Civil Hospital.
