KARACHI, April 28: Eight ships carrying containers and a rice loader to load 25,000 tons of the commodity are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Monday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was on the higher side where a dozen vessels, including Lucky Arrow and Sari to load cement, New Century, Pertiwi and Transport, oil tankers, Filippa, Conti Germany and Hanjin Ningbo with containers were berthed after the departure of a dozen ships during the last two days.

The departing ships were led by Eric G. Gibson, Hyundai Stride, St. Irene, World Majesty, Erria Mie, Sun Rise, Jurong Babaru, Oel Shreyas, Bung Delimma, Harmony, Atoyac, Merbabu, Wales-2 and Artistry.

Five ships, Y.M. Inventive, Filippa, Red Sea Spirit, Lucky Arrow and Cosco Lian Yun Gang, are due to sail out on Tuesday.

A total tonnage of 276,000 tons comprising 71,358 tons of export cargo including 15,861 tons of cement and 12,721 tons of clinkers and 204,000 tons of import tonnage was handled during the last two days.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Iran Faraz with jet oil, Kota Gunawan, APL Jeddah, Ninth Ocean, Pac Antlia with containers, Athanasios G.Callitsis to load 25,000 tons of rice, C. Duke with 36,113 tons of coal and Winco Silvia with 34 vehicles.
