LAHORE, April 27: A constable of the Anti-Corruption Establishment was killed with bricks allegedly by his neighbour over a trifle in Shafeeqabad on Sunday.

Asif Naeem, 40, of Bagh Munshi Ladha locality was posted at an ACE office near Nasser Bagh.

He was survived by a wife and four children.

According to police initial investigation, Asif had raised an objection over the installation of a third gate in the street by his neighbour Muhammad Gulzar but the latter did not pay any attention to it.

On Sunday, Asif again asked Gulzar not to install the gate and they exchanged hot words over the issue. Gulzar and his son Zahid Kala picked up bricks and attacked Asif, killing him on the spot. The accused later managed to escape.

“Apparently Asif received severe hits of brick on his chest but autopsy report will clear the exact cause of death,” Shafeeqabad supervisory police officer Ejaz Shafi Dogar said.

A case has been registered on the complaint of vicitm’s brother Zahid Naeem.
