TOBA TEK SINGH, April 27: Punjab Population Welfare Minister Neelam Jabbar's spouse Mian Abdul Jabbar,who was a Pakistan Customs officer posted in Karachi, announced on Sunday to resign from his government job to what he called “serve” the masses along with his wife more efficiently.

He was addressing a reception hosted in the minister’s honour by local Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders and workers.

Speaking on the occasion, Neelam Jabbar said that the flour crisis and price-hike of commodities were the ‘gifts’ of previous government and the new government needed some time to control these menaces.

She said that the PML-N-PPP coalition government had complete understanding on all issues and would soon provide some relief to the masses. She said that she would leave no stone unturned for the betterment and uplift of her constituency as well as the entire district.

PPP leaders Chaudhry Saeed Akhtar, Safdar Nasir, Yasmeen Begum and Zulfiqar Ali also spoke.

BOARD: The PML-N local chapter has accused former district coordination officer (DCO) Nawazish Ali for constituting board of governors of Jinnah Public School illegally as he had left the charge of his office after transfer before forming the board.

Participants of a meeting presided over by party’s district president, Chaudhry Amjad Ali Javed, passed a resolution, which said that those people who had been inducted in the board had nothing to do with the institution.

They said that the former DCO issued the backdatedorders just to appease certain elements having vestedinterests.

The meeting attended by MPAs Mian Muhammad Rafiq and Sardar Ayub Gadhi and PML-N senior leader M Hamza urged DCO Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf to abolish the board and constitute it afresh.

In another resolution, the participants urged the government to launch accountability of bureaucrats involved in illegal allotment of state lands during the previous government’s stint.

They also decided reorganising the party across the district.
